This Week in Hobby – 10.4.17

Well time just keeps rolling … I started my new work schedule this week (4-10’s). I’m a bit tired but Friday’s off will be nice to catch up on projects.

All the wood is piled up and ready to be split. I’ll leave the piles till spring – by then we will have split the wood and ready for stacking.

I received my kickstarter for Kraken Scatter Terrain last week. I quickly gave it a bath and cleaned it up for primer.

The details are really nice and will go perfectly with my other scrap pile terrain I painted up last year.

I’ll pull this stuff out for reference… I’m hoping to start painting things next week.

Also this week, I primered and base colored this scrapper building for Dark-Age.

I’ll start working on this by dismantling the dry fit and painting the details… hopefully starting on it this month.

I’m still trying to wrap up outside projects… and I’m hoping decent weather and Friday’s off will allow me to get ahead of things before the winter comes.

Late Summer Hobby Malaise — 9.7.17

The summer is swiftly slipping away.  But it’s still hotter and drier  than normal here in the Pacific Northwest. I spend the last bits of August with a summer cold … then as I got better from the virus the wildfires took over with unhealthy levels of smoke hanging in the hot dry air.

I’m starting to feel mostly better now … just in time to try and get the last of the big outside projects wrapped up before fall.

The yurt porch is done. We got it stained and treated for the wet season last week. I’ll get to the roof later into the fall.

I got a chance to go disc golfing a couple weekends ago (here is my friend throwing out of a pond). It wa my first disc golf outing in months.  I did ok – and matched my score from my last visit to this course.

Some new residents moved into my completed woodshed – I’ll try to catch them and get them fixed when they are completely weened from their mom. We have lots of strays in my area sadly.

Here is the hobby desk …. it’s a mess. It has been to hot in the garage to really paint. I’ve cleaned up and put together some MDF terrain – but that’s about it. I’m hoping to wrap out the outside projects and get back to work on the hobby stuff when the fall rains come.

This Week in Hobby – 6.14.17

It’s been a busy week. Working overtime and several Saturdays. Really is cutting into getting hobby stuff done lol.   But I’ve made some progress on things.

I reused the tin from the old sheds we tore down to protect the wall for the woodshed area.

I’ve also got the woodshed area framed …

… tonight I’ll try to get the rafters in – and sow blocking.  I should have to tin roof on by tomorrow. Then it’s on to the larger roof to cover the area between the garage and tall shed.

I have had time to start priming my larger industrial MDF terrain. I’ll be using the rusty red as a base – then I’ll try out using salt as a weathering method.

Lastly, I’ve decided to take the dive into Arena Rex after picking this set up at a great discount (used).

I have really loved the look of these figures … I’m planning to purchase a couple more. And I’m really looking forward to making my own arena 😄.

That’s it for me.  I’m hoping to wrap up the construction this weekend so I can get back to game related stuff for a few afternoons. Next after a short build break on the list will be back to yurt stuff.
